Annual Cancer Survivors Celebration: “Six Reasons to Keep Living and Enjoying Your Gift of Life”

“The true gift of life is about giving, sharing, inspiring and enthusiastically living life to your fullest potential.”– Larry S. Cockerel, key-note speaker

Marshfield Clinic and Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital warmly invite cancer survivors of all ages, and their families and friends, to the annual Cancer Survivors Celebration at Relay for Life of the Marshfield Area.

Just who is a “survivor?” The National Cancer Survivors Institute defines cancer survivorship as the experience of living with, through and beyond cancer for those experiencing this diagnosis and the people in their lives who are impacted by it. It comprises the physical, psychological, emotional, social, spiritual, and economic aspects of life that may be influenced by cancer.

Having a potentially life-threatening disease often leads people to examine their lives and look for meaning in new ways. Many describe cancer as a “rock your soul” experience that leads them to “renegotiate life” and to wonder, “What do I really want to focus my time and energy on?”

Many of the now 12 million Americans who are cancer survivors find that laughter and connecting with others who’ve experienced cancer can be helpful in ways they might not have realized or imagined. One of them is this year’s Survivors Celebration keynote speaker. Larry S. Cockerel is a cancer survivor, national speaker and author. Known as the Cancer Fighting Specialist, he will be sharing his new program, “The Why Factor -Six Reasons to Keep Living and Enjoying Your Gift of Life.” This program will engage, inspire and motivate you to celebrate your journey and thrive as a survivor. All are welcome to participate in this free community-building event. Enjoy good company under the big tent, rain or shine!
